AM4 · B550 · ATX · DDR4
GIGABYTE announced the B550 X series on 31 July 2026 and this is the ATX Eagle model in it. We have not tested one, and nothing here is a measured result. Every figure below is based on published specifications, taken from the AORUS Official Store listing, which is the one source for this board we can read. GIGABYTE's own product and specification pages return an error to us, so where the store listing is the only reading available we say so rather than fill the gap from somewhere else.

The B550 X EAGLE WIFI6E is a full-size ATX board for Socket AM4 on AMD's B550 chipset, and it is a 2026 board for a platform that launched in 2020. It sits alongside our preview of the B550 X series, which covers why GIGABYTE is still building AM4 boards, and alongside the Micro-ATX B550M X AORUS ELITE WIFI7 from the same series.
Eagle is GIGABYTE's mainstream line rather than its enthusiast one, and the specification reads that way. An 8+2 phase VRM, four DDR4 slots, two M.2 slots, 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet and Wi-Fi 6E are a sensible 2026 set; the ALC897 codec and a single HDMI output are where the price is kept down. What none of it can change is the platform underneath: DDR4 memory, Ryzen 3000 to 5000 processors, and one PCIe 4.0 graphics slot.
AMD published bulletin AMD-SB-7064 on 11 August 2026. It covers two high-severity flaws in AMD's firmware TPM: CVE-2026-6726, an information-leakage flaw that lets a forged TPM key be certified as genuine, and CVE-2026-6727, a timing side-channel. AMD scores them 8.5 and 8.3 on CVSS 4.0. Affected processors run from Ryzen 3000 to Ryzen 9000, plus Threadripper, Ryzen AI and Ryzen Embedded parts. Both attacks need local privileged access, so neither is remotely exploitable. The underlying flaw is in the Trusted Computing Group's TPM 2.0 reference code, which AMD ships as fTPM.
The fix arrives as a motherboard BIOS update. Windows Update will not install it. Check GIGABYTE's security page and this board's own support page, install the latest BIOS, then look for an fTPM or TPM security fix in the release notes. Coverage varies by board, and we have not verified that a fixed BIOS exists for this one.
Before you flash: if this machine uses BitLocker, save your recovery key first. A firmware update can trigger BitLocker recovery, and Windows will then ask for a 48-digit key before it unlocks the drive. Our BIOS update guide covers the safe order.

There are two M.2 slots, and they are not a matched pair: the listing describes one of them as PCIe 4.0 x4 and does not state what the other one runs at. Put the drive you boot from in the PCIe 4.0 slot. Alongside them are four SATA 6 Gb/s ports, which is the usual count on a B550 board.
The graphics slot is one PCIe 4.0 x16, driven by the processor. That is the B550 arrangement: the chipset itself is a PCIe 3.0 device, so the fast lanes on the board come from the CPU. Our PCIe guide covers what that means when you fill the other slots.
Our two sources disagree about the rest of the expansion slots. The AORUS Official Store lists "PCI Express x16 (Gen 3.x) slots: 4"; GIGABYTE's own product page has been quoted as "1 x PCIe 4.0 x16, and 4 x PCIe 3.0 x1". Four x16-length Gen 3 slots and four x1 slots are not the same board. Both readings agree there are four further Gen 3 slots and that the graphics slot is a single PCIe 4.0 x16, so that is what our table records. GIGABYTE's specification page returns an error to us, so we cannot settle the width of those four slots, and we are not going to pick a winner. If you need a full-length second slot on this board, check the manual before buying.
GIGABYTE lists a "Hybrid Digital twin 8+2 phases VRM solution". For a mainstream ATX B550 board that is a reasonable arrangement rather than a token one, and based on published specifications it is sized for the 105 W Ryzen parts this platform tops out at. We have no published figure for the current rating of the individual power stages, so this page states none.
Processor support covers the Ryzen 5000, 4000 and 3000 series. Check GIGABYTE's support list for your exact model before buying.
Wireless is a MediaTek MT7902 module: Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. The "6E" is the part worth knowing — it is the same radio generation with the 6 GHz band added rather than a newer one, and our networking guide explains what that actually buys you. Note that this board is Wi-Fi 6E and not Wi-Fi 7: the Micro-ATX AORUS Elite in the same series is the Wi-Fi 7 one. Wired networking is a Realtek RTL8125 controller at 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet.
The rear panel carries eight USB ports: four USB 2.0, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C and one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A. Video output is one HDMI 2.1 port at up to 4096 x 2160, which matters on AM4 because a good number of its processors have integrated graphics. Audio is a Realtek ALC897 driving 7.1 channels, the entry-tier codec that most mainstream boards fit — our audio codec guide covers when that changes anything you will hear.

Someone who already owns an AM4 processor and DDR4 memory, wants a full-size ATX board with room for expansion cards, and wants the networking to be current even though the platform is not. If you are replacing a dead B450 or an early B550 and keeping the chip, this is the sort of board that keeps the rest of the machine alive without asking you to rebuy memory.
