The ASUS ROG Strix X870E-E Gaming WiFi7 NEO is the refreshed upper-tier X870E board in ASUS's ROG Strix range for Socket AM5. It is built around a large power delivery array, five M.2 slots, two 40Gbps USB4 ports on the back panel and a Realtek 5 Gigabit network controller. This page is based on published specifications from ASUS; we have not handled this board.

AMD published bulletin AMD-SB-7064 on 11 August 2026. It covers two high-severity flaws in AMD's firmware TPM: CVE-2026-6726, an information-leakage flaw that lets a forged TPM key be certified as genuine, and CVE-2026-6727, a timing side-channel. AMD scores them 8.5 and 8.3 on CVSS 4.0. Affected processors run from Ryzen 3000 to Ryzen 9000, plus Threadripper, Ryzen AI and Ryzen Embedded parts. Both attacks need local privileged access, so neither is remotely exploitable. The underlying flaw is in the Trusted Computing Group's TPM 2.0 reference code, which AMD ships as fTPM.
The fix arrives as a motherboard BIOS update. Windows Update will not install it. Find this board in ASUS's Download Center, open Driver & Tools and then BIOS & Firmware, install the latest BIOS, then look for an fTPM or TPM security fix in the release notes. Coverage varies by board, and we have not verified that a fixed BIOS exists for this one.
Before you flash: if this machine uses BitLocker, save your recovery key first. A firmware update can trigger BitLocker recovery, and Windows will then ask for a 48-digit key before it unlocks the drive. Our BIOS update guide covers the safe order.

A full-size 12 x 9.6 inch ATX board, so it drops into any case rated for the standard.
What the graphics slot runs at depends on the processor, and ASUS publishes three different answers. With a Ryzen 9000 or 7000 Series processor it is PCIe 5.0 x16 in x16 mode. With a Ryzen 8700, 8600 or 8400 Series processor the same slot is PCIe 4.0 in x8 mode, and with a Ryzen 8500 or 8300 Series processor it drops to x4. Those lanes come from the CPU, which is why the board cannot change the answer. A second full-length slot is wired to the chipset and runs PCIe 4.0 at x4.
Storage is five M.2 slots and four SATA 6Gb/s ports. The first two are PCIe 5.0 x4 and also accept the shorter 2242 and 2260 lengths as well as 2280; the remaining three are PCIe 4.0 x4 and take 2280 drives only. Five slots is the most ASUS fits on this range, and it is the reason to look at an X870E board rather than a B850 one if the build is storage-heavy.
ASUS specifies 18+2+2 power stages: eighteen for the CPU core and two for the SoC, each rated to 110 amps, plus two more rated to 80 amps for the remaining rails. That is sized for the top of the Ryzen 9000 range, including sustained all-core workloads, based on published specifications rather than any measurement of ours.
Memory is four DIMM slots to a maximum of 256GB of DDR5, with ECC and non-ECC unbuffered modules both supported. The overclocking figures ASUS publishes vary by processor generation: DDR5-8600+ MT/s with Ryzen 9000 Series, DDR5-9600+ with Ryzen 8000 Series and DDR5-8000+ with Ryzen 7000 Series. ASUS also lists its NitroPath DRAM construction and EXPO profile support on this board.
Wired networking is a Realtek 5 Gigabit Ethernet controller. Wireless is 2x2 Wi-Fi 7 on a MediaTek MT7927 module, with Bluetooth 5.4 and LE Audio support.
The back panel carries 13 USB ports. Two of them are USB4 at 40Gbps, both Type-C and both with DisplayPort Alt mode, and the other eleven run at 10Gbps: nine Type-A and two Type-C, one of which supplies up to 30W of PD/PPS fast charging. Also on the rear are one HDMI output, the Wi-Fi module, the network port, an optical S/PDIF output, a BIOS FlashBack button and a Clear CMOS button. Audio is the ROG SupremeFX implementation of the Realtek ALC4080 codec, but note the rear panel exposes only two analogue audio jacks, so a multi-channel analogue speaker set needs the front-panel header or a different board.
Builders on the top of the Ryzen 9000 range who want the largest storage array ASUS offers in this range, USB4 on the back panel without an add-in card, and faster wired networking than the mid-range usually provides. If none of those three matter to your build, a cheaper X870 or B850 board covers the same processors.
