The ASUS ROG Strix B850-E Gaming WiFi is the enthusiast end of ASUS's B850 range for Socket AM5. It carries 16+2+2 power stages, five M.2 slots and a rear 40Gbps Type-C port — a specification sheet closer to an X870 board than to the mainstream boards it shares a chipset with. This page is based on published specifications from ASUS; we have not handled this board.
AMD published bulletin AMD-SB-7064 on 11 August 2026. It covers two high-severity flaws in AMD's firmware TPM: CVE-2026-6726, an information-leakage flaw that lets a forged TPM key be certified as genuine, and CVE-2026-6727, a timing side-channel. AMD scores them 8.5 and 8.3 on CVSS 4.0. Affected processors run from Ryzen 3000 to Ryzen 9000, plus Threadripper, Ryzen AI and Ryzen Embedded parts. Both attacks need local privileged access, so neither is remotely exploitable. The underlying flaw is in the Trusted Computing Group's TPM 2.0 reference code, which AMD ships as fTPM.
The fix arrives as a motherboard BIOS update. Windows Update will not install it. Check ASUS's security advisories and this board's own support page, install the latest BIOS, then look for an fTPM or TPM security fix in the release notes. Coverage varies by board, and we have not verified that a fixed BIOS exists for this one.
Before you flash: if this machine uses BitLocker, save your recovery key first. A firmware update can trigger BitLocker recovery, and Windows will then ask for a 48-digit key before it unlocks the drive. Our BIOS update guide covers the safe order.

A standard 12 x 9.6 inch ATX board with the heavier heatsink work you expect from the ROG Strix line, plus a Q-Release Slim latch on the primary graphics slot that lets you free a long card without reaching under the cooler.
The graphics slot is PCIe 5.0 x16 with a Ryzen 9000 or 7000 Series processor. With a Ryzen 8000 Series processor the same slot runs at PCIe 4.0 in x8 or x4 mode, because those lanes come from the CPU. A second full-length slot is wired to the chipset and runs at x4.
Storage is the headline here: five M.2 slots. Three of them are PCIe 5.0 x4 with a Ryzen 9000 or 7000 Series processor, and the remaining two are PCIe 4.0 x4. Four SATA 6Gb/s ports round it out.
ASUS specifies 16+2+2 power stages. That is the largest VRM array of the four ASUS B850 boards we cover and comfortably covers the top of the Ryzen 9000 range, including sustained all-core workloads.
Networking is where this board separates itself: a Realtek 5 Gigabit Ethernet controller, which is a step above what boards at this tier usually carry, alongside Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. Quote that wired figure carefully when you compare boards — it is unusual for the tier and it is the number ASUS publishes for this model.
The back panel carries 12 USB ports, and one of them is a USB4 40Gbps Type-C connector. That is the only board in ASUS's B850 range covered here that exposes 40Gbps directly rather than through an internal header. Audio is the ROG SupremeFX implementation of the Realtek ALC4080 codec.
Builders who want X870-class storage and I/O on an AM5 board without moving to the X870 chipset: five M.2 slots, a 40Gbps Type-C port on the back panel, and faster wired networking than the tier normally provides.
